КАМАZ was established in 1969 as Kama River Complex of Heavy Duty Truck Production Plants (KamAZ Production Association). The first truck rolled off the final assembly line on February 16-th 1976. Since then more than 2 mn. trucks have been made and approximately 2.8 mn. engines have been produced. Every third truck with gross vehicle weight (GVW) between 14 and 40 tons in Russia and in the CIS countries is a KAMAZ truck. KAMAZ trucks are in operation in more than 80 countries all over the world.
